Why apps and smartphones are the future for Education
We’re used to seeing pupils hunched over their smartphones, but we tend to think of it as a bad thing. We assume they’re gaming or texting.
Those activities, in themselves, aren’t bad things but parents and teachers tend to be suspicious. Anything that they want to do, can’t be right, can it?
But maybe that motivation is they key – smartphones are the tools that pupils and students want to use. The trick, therefore, is to make them use them for educational purposes. So the increasing use of apps in education, especially in higher education, makes a lot of sense. The right apps, with the right content, can open up education to students on the very devices that they’re are, seemingly on all day. It’ll either educate them or drive them back to books.
